I
have practiced law for nearly 30 years: 7 in Illinois, mainly
in the Chicago area, and 23 in Colorado, principally in
the Denver metropolitan area. As a lawyer, I have handled
small cases and multi-million dollar ones, simple matters
and complex ones. I have represented parties in litigation
as well as transactional matters. My clients have included
individuals, businesses, banks, savings and loans, title
insurance companies, and other companies and organizations.
One of the banks that I represent on a regular basis has
been a client for over 17 years. I have been a sole practitioner
for over 16 years, and have obtained the Martindale
Hubbell highest rating of "AV". All the firms with which
I was associated prior to establishing my own law practice
were also "AV" rated.
I have
over 25 years experience representing clients in litigation
matters. For over 15 years I have represented banks in the
making and workout of commercial loans, crafting documents
as well as solutions. Most of the litigation matters that
I have handled have either settled directly or through mediation,
or been resolved by motion without having to go to trial.
Noticing how much more satisfied people are when they are
able to resolve their disputes without having to file suit
or go to trial, I decided to become a mediator. I received
my training and certificate of completion from CDR Associates
in Boulder, Colorado, and began working as a mediator with
the Court Annexed Mediation Project ("CAMP") shortly thereafter.
In February of 2006 I became a Co-Director of CAMP. CAMP
is a Colorado and Denver Bar Association project that provides
mediation services in civil cases in the Denver County and
Small Claims Courts. Commencing in June, 2005, I have also
worked on occasion as a coach of student mediators in role
play situations.

"Deb
Sperlak and I … worked together for over 10 years. Our mutual
experiences occurred when she represented several banks
with which I was employed.
Our responsibilities were primarily directed towards resolving
problems with troubled assets. She is the consummate litigator-committed
-tough-unrelenting. Somehow however she always left an opening
for intelligent negotiations.
It
is an extension of this attitude that qualifies her as a
mediator. She is not afraid of conflict but clearly sees
the superior value of non-destructive settlement both from
the perspective of human and material cost.
I would highly recommend her services when the opportunity
occurs to rise above the conflict in a courtroom and settle
differences in an adult manner"
