I worked as a practicing attorney for over 34 years, handling litigation and transactional matters of various types and sizes. My clients included individuals, businesses, banks, title insurance companies, non-governmental organizations, and other companies and organizations. I achieved the Martindale Hubbell highest rating of AV as judged by my peers.
Most of the litigation matters I handled as an attorney settled directly or through mediation, or were resolved by motion without having to go to trial. Noticing how much more satisfied people are when they are able to resolve their disputes without having to file suit or go to trial, I decided to become a mediator. I received my training and certificate from CDR Associates in Boulder, Colorado in 2004, and have worked as a mediator ever since. Upon request, I started working as an arbitrator in 2008.
From 2008 to 2010, I served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, teaching Alternative Dispute Resolution, with an emphasis on negotiation, mediation and arbitration. I served as a mediator from 2004 to 2010, and as an executive director from 2006 to 2009, of a Colorado and Denver Bar Association program – CMS, formerly CAMP – that trains and provides mediators in civil cases in Denver County and Small Claims Courts. Since 2005, I have worked as a coach of student mediators in various mediation trainings, including University of Denver University College and the Colorado Bar Association Continuing Legal Education.
As a mediator I have helped numerous parties to effectively resolve over 70 percent of the matters I have mediated. As an arbitrator I have provided parties with the opportunity for prompt hearings and decisions, and with an explanatory written decision upon request.
I strive to offer my services at reasonable and highly competitive rates. Please feel free to contact me to discuss the fees that would be applicable to your case.
